Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 21, 2026
CompetitorTracker ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information we collect
When you register, we collect your email address, name, and a hashed password. We do not store plaintext passwords.
When you add competitors, we store the URLs you provide. We scrape those URLs on your behalf and store the resulting content snapshots and detected changes.
We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser, request timestamps) for security and debugging purposes.
How we use your information
We use your email to send your weekly AI digest, account notifications, and product updates. You can opt out of product updates at any time.
We use competitor URLs you provide solely to perform monitoring on your behalf. We do not sell, share, or use this data for any purpose other than providing the service to you.
We use aggregated, anonymized usage data to improve the product.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers in the EU. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in recoverable form.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by emailing us.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Resend — for transactional email delivery - OpenRouter / Google Gemini — for AI digest generation (your competitor data is sent to these services to generate summaries) - Polar.sh — for payment processing (we do not store card details) - Umami — for anonymous, cookie-free analytics
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other advertising trackers.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
Our analytics (Umami) are cookie-free.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can export or delete your account data by contacting us via the contact form on our website.
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email.
