Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 4, 2026
CompetitorTracker is a Shopify App Store review-intelligence product. This policy explains how we handle account data, public app index data, analytics, and digest data.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, hashed password, plan, billing state, watched Shopify apps, tracked competitors, and product usage events.
When you use the service, we store public Shopify App Store data such as app metadata, reviews, ratings, pricing summaries, categories, related apps, crawl timestamps, review themes, alerts, and digest results.
We collect standard server logs for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and reliability.
Public Shopify App Store data
CompetitorTracker works from public Shopify App Store pages. We do not ask for Shopify OAuth access, merchant store access, Shopify Partner analytics, revenue data, or private customer data.
Public app listings and reviews may also be used in the public app index when they pass the product quality gate.
How we use information
We use account information to authenticate users, enforce plan limits, process billing, send account notifications, and deliver review-intelligence digests.
We use watched apps and competitor selections to create dashboards, alerts, weekly digests, crawl queues, and review-intelligence reports.
We use aggregated product analytics to understand which pages and workflows produce signups, setup completion, and digest usage.
Third-party services
We use Resend for transactional email, Polar for payment processing, Umami for cookie-free analytics, and infrastructure providers for hosting, storage, databases, and logs.
We do not store card details. Payment information is handled by Polar and its payment processors.
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or advertising retargeting pixels.
Cookies and analytics
We use authentication storage so you can stay signed in. Umami analytics are cookie-free and used to measure product usage and conversion paths.
Analytics events may include page type, app handle, source page, plan, and setup actions. They do not include passwords or payment details.
Data retention
We retain account data while your account is active. You may request deletion through the contact form.
Private account data such as watched apps, tracked competitors, alerts, and digest history can be deleted with your account. Public Shopify App Store index data may remain because it is not private user-provided data.
Security
Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. We use transport security, access controls, and operational safeguards appropriate for an early-stage SaaS product.
No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to limit the data we collect and keep private account data separate from public index data.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal data. If you are in a jurisdiction with additional privacy rights, those rights may also apply.
Use the contact form at competitortracker.co/contact for privacy requests.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected by changing the effective date and, where appropriate, notifying active users.
